DUBLIN PANEL CALLUPS

Congratulations to Ciara Buchanan from the Adult Camogie team who has once again been selected for the Dublin Premier Junior Camogie panel for 2018.

Well done also to Rachel Fagan from the Under 16 LGFA Team who has made it to the Dublin Under 16 LGFA Team. It’s a fantastic achievement for Rachel and a great reflection on her commitment.

A reminder that Laurie Baxter from the LGFA Team will be playing with the Junior Dubs Stars (Navy) team on Sunday 14th January in DCU (St Clare’s) at 11:30am. Come out and show your support for Laurie – COYGIB!

GARDA RE-VETTING

The GAA Vetting Policy stipulates that as part of our good practice procedures members shall be re-vetted at a minimum within a five year time period."  

St Finians GAA Club is now asking that all who deal or come in contact with children (under 18) in the Club and who have been Garda vetted five years or more ago, to please apply to be re-vetted.

CLUB NOTES 7TH JANUARY 2018

The Nursery (4 & 5 year old boys and girls) & Academy (6 year old boys & girls) sponsored by Sky Handling Partner will resume on Saturday 13th January 2018 at 10am & 11:30am respectively after the Christmas break in the Community Centre. Pat was a loyal club supporter and  is a brother of a club founding member Josie Power and a father of former player Paddy. On behalf of the members and executive of St Finians GAA club, we express our deepest condolences to parents Emma-Kate and Aidan Morrissey and sisters Morgan-May and Chloe and their extended family on the passing of their daughter and sister Katie Rose Morrissey.

St Finians GAA Club also extends sincere sympathies to Brendan Gribbon on the passing of his mother Mary. Brendan & Margaret Gribbon have 3 children playing with different teams in the club (Ciara, Aoife & Liam) and Margaret plays with the Gaelic for Mothers & Others team.

Membership subscriptions for 2018 are now due. Payments can be made online under Club Membership on the homepage of the club website www.stfinians.com. Some minor changes have been made to membership categories and rates for 2018. The club has introduced a family membership which would be the most cost effective for most families. Membership can be paid over 3 months online (After the initial amount is paid the subsequent 2 monthly payments come out automatically). As a substantial element of the club’s outlay comes at the start of the year, all memberships should be paid as soon as possible.

A huge thanks to all those who took part in the recent bag packing fundraisers in Supervalu Boroimhe & Dunnes Stores Pavilions which raised much needed funds for the club.

A big thank you also to Eve O’Brien from the Dublin Senior Camogie Team who presented the Under 15 Camogie with their Championship winners medals last weekend. The girls celebrated the occasion by keeping up their fitness levels with trips to Jumpzone & Go Quest!

A new keypad has been installed at the front entrance door of the clubhouse. If your fob fails to operate you should return it to the office to be reprogrammed, or contact the Clubhouse Officer Frank Egan at 087 9734883

Jacqui was wife to Alan who played both juvenile and adult football for the club and mother to Brian who plays on our minor football team. Congratulations to the boys & girls from Holy Family Senior National School from the Under 12 teams within the club, who provided the half time entertainment at the Dublin V Offaly National Hurling League match in Croke Park on Saturday evening. CLUB NOTES 18TH FEBRUARY 2018

It was mixed results for the Adult Football teams on Sunday. The AFL4 team beat Thomas Davis in Ridgewood while the AFL8 team were beaten by Naomh Fhionnbarra also in Ridgewood.

Well done to the Under 14 Thomas Ashe team who beat Whitehall Colmcilles in a very strong performance in their Division 2 clash on Saturday.

The AHL4 team are away to Cuala at 10:15am on Sunday 25thFebruary while the AHL8 team are at home to Whitehall Colmcille at 2:15pm. Come out and show your support for the Adult Hurling teams!

Congratulations to the Thomas Ashe Minor team who had a great win over Fingal Ravens on Sunday morning.

Well done also to the Under 14 Camogie team who opened their season with a great win over Faughs/Celtic on Saturday.

Congratulations to the Under 8 Boys & coaches who received their Certificates and medals on Sunday following impressive displays at the Annual Gormanstown Indoor Hurling tournament.

The AFL4 team are playing Man O’War away on Sunday 4thMarch 10:15am while the AFL8 team are also away to Kilmacud Crokes at Noon. Come out and show your support for the Adult Football teams!

Congratulations to Grace Murray, Ellie Kane, Teagen Comber & Ciara Laird from the Under 16 Camogie team who have made it to the Dublin Under 15 Camogie team for 2018. Grace & Ellie also help to coach the Under 8 2010 girls camogie team.

EASTER CAMP 2018

The Easter Camp will take place from Tuesday 3rd April to Friday 6th  April 2018. Prices are €40 for 1st child member, €70 for 2 children and 3 children plus €90. For non-members it’s €50.

The weather wreaked havoc with the weekend fixture list with all games cancelled.

The AHL4 team are playing St Maurs on Sunday 11thMarch at 10:15am while the AHL8 team are away to Castleknock at 2:30pm. All support welcome and appreciated for the Adult Hurling teams!

The Club is participating in a 'Fantasy Cheltenham' fundraiser from 13th March to 16th March. There is €10000 in prize money. All entries must be in by 12pm on the race day. There are double points for the 1st race each day and there are no points for non-runners. Tickets are €20 and can be bought online http://www.fantasycheltenham.ie and select St Finians GAA. Tickets are also available in the clubhouse. The results and leader boards are on http://www.fantasycheltenham.ie .

With St Patricks Day approaching, a reminder that all juvenile members are invited to walk with their team in the Swords St Patrick's Day parade accompanied by their parents wearing their St Finian’s colours or something else! The parade starts at 11am and all parents & children are requested to meet in Coláiste Choilm car park on the Forest Road at 10am. Parents & coaches are by now aware of the club's plans for the Parade and a big thanks to all those who spent a great deal of time helping with the preparations. Everybody is invited back to the clubhouse for some ceol agus craic & refreshments afterwards from 12.30pm onwards - all are welcome.

Membership subscriptions for 2018 are now due. The membership open day will now take place on Saturday 10th March from 10am where payment can be made in full. Payments can be also made online under Club Membership on the homepage of the club website www.stfinians.com.Membership can be paid over 3 months online (After the initial amount is paid the subsequent 2 monthly payments come out automatically).

The effects of last week’s snow rendered River Valley & Ridgewood pitches unplayable resulting in most of the weekend’s home fixtures being cancelled.

Congratulations to the AHL8 team who beat Castleknock in Somerton. The first two games of the season has seen Minor players Jack Malone & Andrew Cowley make their Adult Hurling debuts with Jimmy Hammond & Eoin O’Malley in good form on their return to hurling action.

Well done also to the Thomas Ashe Minor team who had a great win in their Division 3 clash with St Sylvesters.

Congratulations to the Under 16 Camogie team who won their first Division 1 league game against Faughs in a very tight encounter on Saturday, while the Under 16 LGFA team beat Kilmacud Crokes in Ridgewood on Sunday.

Well done to the Under 8 2010 girls who played their first Go Games Camogie match on Sunday against Whitehall Colmcille. The girls are currently being coached by members of the Under 16 Championship winning Camogie team and this was reflected by the skill levels on display.

Please note that both River Valley& Ridgewood pitches are unplayable until next Friday 30th March at the earliest for both training and matches. The pitches & fixtures coordinator will endeavour to accommodate affected teams with alternatives where possible.

Well done to the combined St Finians/St Margarets Adult LGFA team who beat Fingal Ravens in their first league outing on Wednesday evening in St Margarets.

St Finians GAA Club extends its deepest sympathies to the family of Fiona O'Carroll who passed away on Thursday 29th March. Marie, Fiona's mother, is an active member of our club over many years. Ciaran and Larry, Fiona's brothers, have played for the club at several levels. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.

Online registrations for Easter camp 2018 are now closed but a limited number of registrations will take place on the Tuesday morning between 9:30am and 10am.

The Adult Camogie Team are playing Na Fianna in their first league outing in the Senior 7 League North on Tuesday evening at 6:45pm in River Valley. St Finians Under 14 Hurling Team will be hosting the 2018 Hurling Féile on Saturday 21st April for their group in River Valley. Both pitches will be used from 10am until 6pm that day.

Congratulations to the Under 16 LGFA Team who beat Clontarf in their first league outing in St Annes Park on Sunday.

The AFL4 team lost by the narrowest margin to an injury time score from Ballyboughal in the Championship on Saturday in Nevinstown.

The Gaelic for Mothers and Others team had their first match of the season against ‘The Island’ Ladies in Inis Oirr on the Aran Islands at the weekend.

The Under 14 Hurling Team will be hosting the 2018 Hurling Féile on Saturday 21st April in River Valley with Na Fianna, Kevins & Naomh Fhionnbarra in attendance. St. Finians GAA club present “I’m a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here” as their main fundraiser for 2018 on Saturday, June 2nd in City North Hotel. Doors open at 7.15pm with the show starting at 8pm sharp. 

The evening will finish with a late bar and DJ. 

Tickets will be available for purchase both online and directly from contestants or the fund raising committee. 

Adult ticket price - €25, juvenile tickets €10. 

24 club members will take on a gruelling set of challenges, which many of you will have seen on TV, as they compete for the crown of King or Queen of St Finians.

Please note that the Club Officers have decided to move the I'm A Celebrity Event planned for June Bank Holiday weekend to a new date in Autumn. This will allow all of our I'm A Celebrity Contestants extra time to practice their Snake charming and Tarantula tickling skills. Updated plans will be published as soon as they are finalised.

It was mixed fortunes for the AFL teams last week. The AFL4 team beat Clann Mhuire away on Wednesday evening in a very close game with the bear minimum separating the teams, and a goal from Conor Halpin proving to be the crucial score. The AFL8 team were beaten by Na Fianna in Collinstown on Tuesday.

Well done to the Adult Camogie team who beat Na Fianna away on Tuesday evening.

The AHL4 Team are at home to St Brigids in the league on Wednesday 16th May at 7:15pm in Ridgewood. The AHL8 team are away to Commercials on Thursday 17th May at 7:15pm. The AFL drew away to Man O’War on Saturday evening.


Well done to the Adult LGFA Team who beat Skerries Harps in the Valley on Wednesday evening.


Congratulations to Ciara Buchanan who represented the Club on the winning Dublin Intermediate camogie Team versus Carlow in the Leinster Championship last weekend.


Well done to the Loreto Swords on winning their camogie final against Loreto Balbriggan on Friday in St Maurs which included some of the St Finians Under 14 & Under 16 girls.


Congratulations to the Under 14 LGFA team who represented the club with Pride at their Féile in Whitehall competing with St Maurs, Thomas Davis , Whitehall Colmcille. A big thanks to Texaco Airside for their sponsorship of the Féile training tops and jerseys, to Fiona Laird for the VHI boot bags and not least Peacocks for the players & family meal.


Well done also to Rachel Fagan who represented the Club on the Dublin Under 16 LGFA team in the Leinster Final in Ballymore Eustace on Sunday against Kildare. 


Congratulations to Ellie Kane, Ciara Laird & Grace Murray from the Under 16 Camogie Team who were on the victorious Dublin Under 15 Camogie Team in the Meath Blitz.


Well done to the Under 12 Camogie team who took part in the Cáman Leinster tournament in Abbotstown on Saturday.

Congratulations to the Adult Camogie team who came from 7 points down at one stage in the second half to beat Erins Isle in a pulsating match in Finglas on Wednesday evening. This win confirms a Senior 7 League North final playoff place against St Brigids and they could win the League outright depending on St Brigids final result. Full credit to the Management team of Mick Lawton & Eamon Morris who have done a superb job in pulling the team together and keeping them training through the winter.

St Finians GAA Club extends best wish to its members who are sitting State Exams over the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the AHL4 team who beat Clanna Gael-Fontenoy in the Junior A Championship on Saturday in Ridgewood putting in a great team performance with a first half goal from Jack Murray and 2nd half points from Peter O’Connor being the crucial scores.


Well done also to the Adult Camogie team who beat St Oliver Plunketts away on Tuesday evening in the Adult 5-6 cup.


The AFL8 team are at away to St Oliver Plunketts on Monday 25th June at 7:30pm. The AFL4 Team are away to Castleknock on Wednesday 27th June at 7:30pm in Somerton. The AHL4 team are at home to St Maurs on Saturday 30th June at 6:30pm. The Adult LGFA Team are playing Croabh Chiaran in the Division 6 cup in Ridgewood on Monday 25th July in Ridgewood. A huge congratulations to the seven players from St Finians members on theThomas Ashe Minor Team who with eleven wins from eleven matches were crowned Division 3 Minor Champions during the week.

The Under 16 boys football league concluded last week. Having gone throughout the entire campaign losing only once, with results elsewhere going their way, there is an unprecedented 3 way tie for the league title. St Finians, Na Fianna, Man O War all finish with identical records 8 wins, 1 loss. There will be play offs to take place mid August to decide the league winners. Details to be confirmed.

A huge thanks and well done to all those who contributed to the success of the Dublin Advanced Camogie camp hosted by the club last week which was a great honour for St Finians in showcasing the club, with over 60 girls from other North Dublin clubs taking part. A special mention to Fiona Cronin & Nuala Halpin in making the necessary arrangements and also to Frank Egan & Martin Halpin who had the Clubhouse facilities and environs in pristine condition. Some of the coaches in attendance included Dublin Senior Players, Arlene Cushion, Grainne Free, Emer McCarthy (Dublin Captain) and Ali Maguire. Check out the Club Facebook page for some pictures.

It was mixed fortunes for the AFL teams again this week. The AFL4 team beat table toppers St Vincents in Ridgewood on Wednesday evening to remain in contention for a playoff place. The AFL8 team were beaten away by Stars of Erin on Tuesday evening.

Well done to the Adult LGFA Team, who narrowly beat Trinity Gaels in the Valley on Wednesday evening to keep up their unbeaten run in the Championship, in a very high scoring match.

Best of luck to the Gaelic for Mothers and Others team representing the club in the Leinster Blitz in Trim this weekend!

Well done to the Adult LGFA Team who have kept their impressive100% record going in the Junior E Championship Group A with 3 wins from 3 games by beating Naomh Olaf away on Wednesday evening.

The AFL4 team are away to Skerries Harps on Wednesday 1st August at 7:15pm. The AFL8 team are away to Round Towers Lusk on Tuesday 31st July at 7:15pm. The Adult LGFA Team are playing Templeogue Synge Street B in the Junior E Championship on Wednesday 1st August at 7:30pm in St Margarets. All support welcome and appreciated for the AFL & Adult LGFA teams!

Congratulations to the Gaelic for Mothers and Others team who represented the club with distinction at the Leinster Blitz in Trim last weekend and winning all of their four matches!

Well done to Ciara Buchanan who was once again named in the Dublin Premier Junior Camogie teams in their recent victories over Armagh & Roscommon!

The Dublin Senior Camogie team are having an open training session on Thursday August 2nd at 7pm in DCU prior to their All Ireland Senior Camogie clash with Galway on Saturday 4th August. Come along and watch the girls training and get you jersey or hurl signed or get phots with the players.

St Finians GAA Club are looking to set up a rota among its members, parents & supporters to assist with the selling of Club lotto tickets on Friday evenings and to also help with the draw which now takes place on Sunday evenings, and which would take around 90 minutes to complete each evening. The Club Lotto is a vital source of funding in the running of the club, for the purchase of equipment and other day to day expenditure. Many hands make light work, so the more volunteers who are available, the less frequent that they will be required on the rota. If you can spare 90 minutes, not more than once a month to assist either on a Friday or Sunday evening, please contact Club Treasurer Shay Collins 0863556833

CLUB NOTES 9TH SEPTEMBER 2018

A huge congratulations to the Adult Camogie team who were crowned Division 7 league champions last week with other fixtures in the league going their way. St Brigids needed a win on Wednesday evening to claim the league but could only manage a draw with the girls clinching the league. Huge credit to Mick Lawton and Eamon Morris on this great achievement with the girls!

Well done also to the Adult Hurling team who beat Ballinteer St Johns in the Championship on Saturday evening in Ridgewood to qualify for the Quarter Final, with strong defensive play from Jarlath O’Loughlin, David Hattie & Colm MacBradaigh which set the tone for the win.

Congratulations to the Dublin Premier Junior Camogie Team on beating Kerry in the All Ireland Junior Camogie Final on Sunday in Croke Park and to our own Ciara Buchanan from the Adult Camogie Team who is an ever present member of the Dublin panel for a number of seasons now.

Football Championship action returns next weekend. The AFL4 team are at home to Naomh Barróg in the Intermediate Championship at 5:30pm Saturday 15th September. The AFL8 team are away to Cuala in the Junior 3 Championship on Sunday 16th September 2018 at 3pm. All support welcome and appreciated for the AFL teams.

The Adult Camogie team are at home to St Vincents on Tuesday 11th September in the Junior 3 Championship at 6:45pm. All support welcome!

Well done to Annabel Timothy who represented the club on the Dublin team in the Under 14 blitz in Abbotstown on Saturday.

St Finians GAA Club are looking to set up a rota among its members, parents & supporters to assist with the selling of Club lotto tickets on Friday evenings and to also help with the draw which now takes place on Sunday evenings, and which would take around 90 minutes to complete each evening. The Club Lotto is a vital source of funding in the running of the club, for the purchase of equipment and other day to day expenditure. Many hands make light work, so the more volunteers who are available, the less frequent that they will be required on the rota. A clothing collection will take place on Saturday 22nd September to raise funds for St. Finians GAA Club. Please donate your clean unwanted clothes (in any condition). Also towels, bed linen, (NO DUVETS OR PILLOWS), shoes and handbags.

Bags can be left into the clubhouse Monday -Thursday 17th -20th September from 7-9pm.

Bags will be collected at 11am on Saturday morning 22nd September so please drop off before this time on Saturday morning.

Congratulations to Aidan (Moro) Morrissey, Ross Hainsworth, Tony Kiernan & Alan McGill who represented the club on the victorious Dublin 'Masters' Team in the All Ireland Final v Tyrone on Saturday in Fr Manning Gaels in Longford!  

Well done to the Under 13 & Under 14 Boys footballs teams who beat Trinity Geals & Fingallians respectively.

The Adult Hurling Team are playing Naomh Mearnóg in the Quarter Final of the Junior A Championship next Saturday 22nd September at 5pm in Portmarnock.

The Adult  Camogie Team are away to Faughs/Celtic in the Junior 3 Championship on Sunday 23rd September 2018 at 10:30am.

All support welcome and appreciated for the Adult Hurling & Camogie teams.

Congratulations to the Dublin Senior Ladies Football team on retaining the Brendan Martin Cup. There was a great turnout in attendance at the final from St Finians to support the Dublin Ladies. A huge thanks to Fiona Cronin & Nuala Halpin who organised the tickets & transport to and from Croke Park. A very enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Hard luck to the AHL team, who were narrowly beaten by Naomh Mearnóg on Saturday evening in Portmarnock. Despite a spirited 2nd half comeback and a 2nd half hat-trick of goals from James Shelly, the team exited the Junior A Championship at the quarter final stage.


Well done to the Adult Camogie team who had a great win away to Faughs/Celtic on Sunday in the Junior 3 Championship!


The Adult Camogie Team are at home to Castleknock in the Junior 3 Championship on Sunday 30th September 2018 at 10:30am. The AFL8 have a home relegation battle with Naomh Barróg on Sunday 30th September at 3pm. The AFL4 team are away to Clanna Gael-Fontenoy on Saturday 29th September at 5pm. All support welcome and appreciated for the Camogie & AFL teams.


Well done to the Under 7, 2011 Boys & Girls who played their first blitz on Saturday morning in the Valley with fantastic support with127 players taking part from local rivals Fingallians & Binn Eadair!

Congratulations to the Adult St Finians /St Margaret's LGFA who had a great win over St Monica's in the Division 6 Cup Semi final in St Margarets on Wednesday evening. The time and date of the final is still to be decided.

Well done also to the Adult Camogie team who beat Castleknock in the Valley in the Junior 3 Championship on Sunday.

The Under 16 hurlers are enjoying a fine run in the championship. A comprehensive win over St Vincents was followed by an outstanding second half come back against Kilmacud Crokes. 10 points down with20 mins left, the boys won out by 4 points. That put them through to the quarter finals v Lucan Sarsfields on Saturday. With 7 points down at half time, the lads battled bravely to take the lead for the first time in injury time andheld on for the win. That sets up a semi final v Clanna Na Gael in 2 weeks. All support welcome!

The Annual General Meeting of the Club will take place on Wednesday 14th November 2018 at 8.30 pm in the Club House.

In accordance with Rule 8.5.2 of the Club Constitution members are invited to submit nominations for election to the Executive Committee for next year.

Nominations and motions forms have been circulated to members by email. If you have not received one, please email pro.stfiniansswords.dublin@gaa.ie

Nominations to serve on the Executive Committee shall be by any two Full Members whose membership fees are paid up to date.

Members are also invited to submit motions for consideration at the meeting.

ST FINIANS I'M A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE

St Finian's GAA are hosting their "I'm A Celebrity" event as the main fund raiser of the year in City North Hotel on Friday, November 9th. 

Doors open at 7.15pm and the main event starts at 8pm, followed by DJ and late bar. We would be very grateful for your support both in advance and on the night. 

Contestant recruitment is almost complete - we have some places available if anyone would like to take part and raise some funds for the club.

We plan to introduce all of our contestants at a launch event to take place in the clubhouse on Sunday 14th, 16:00-18:00. 

We would also request anyone who would like to sponsor any part of the event to contact any of the Fundraising Committee (Ian, Fergus, Barry, Jim, Nuala, Shay, Shay, Karl) or club executive – there are a large range of sponsorship options available. 

The club aims for this to be a family event and hope that our juvenile members will be able to attend to witness their parents or coaches take part in the challenges.

Tickets are priced at Adult : €20, Under 16 : €5, Family (2 Adults + children) €50. 

Buses will be arranged from the clubhouse to Hotel and return - details to follow.

Discounted rooms are also available from the hotel for the night.

Congratulations to the Under 16 LGFA team who had a great win over St Sylvesters in the shield semi-final in the Valley on Sunday.


A huge thanks as always, to long standing club supporters Donal & Damian from SuperValu Boroimhe who donated some footballs to the boys & girls at Saturday morning’s nursery & Academy.


Ciara Buchanan from the adult Camogie team who recently won an All-Ireland Junior Camogie Medal was in attendance at Saturday morning’s Nursery & Academy to sign autographs and pose for photos with the Kay Mills cup. A very successful weekend for St Finians Teams. Well done to the Adult Camogie team who beat St Brigids in the Senior 7 Championship Semi-final on Sunday to set up a final spot next weekend. All support welcomeand appreciated. The game was end to end eventually being decided in extra time with the girls holding on for a well deserved win.

Congratulations also to the Minor boys team who beat Ballinteer in the Minor B Championship which guarantees them a semi-final place with a game in hand.

CLUB NOTES 11TH NOVEMBER 2018

Congratulations to Paul Timothy who was crowned King of the jungle on Friday in a nail biting final with Eoin O’Connor at the I’m a Celebrity Event, two worthy finalists. What a night, a big thanks to all of those were involved in the organisation, to all of the contestants who took part, to the sponsors and to the members & supporters who turned out in such huge numbers and contributed to the success of the I'm a Celebrity Event. Please send any photos of the evening by WhatsApp to the outgoing PRO James Freeman for upload to the Club Facebook Page later in the week.

Best of luck to the Adult LGFA team who are in the Adult Division 6 cup final against Castleknock in St Margarets next Wednesday 14th November at 7:30pm. The Minor Boys are playing in a semi-final on Sunday 18th November, all support welcome and appreciated for the Adult Ladies and Minor Football teams.

Reminders:

The Club AGM will take place on Wednesday 14thNovember 2018 at the later time of 9:15pm in the Clubhouse to facilitate those attending the Adult Ladies Cup final. Best wishes to the Incoming Executive Committee for 2019.

The club is holding a Foundation Level coaching course on Wednesday 14th & 21st November from 7pm to 9pm. Please note that the course is spread over the two dates. The Club is also holding a Dual Award 1 GAA Coaching award course and will be ran over two dates, Saturday 24th November & Saturday 1st December 10am-4pm. CLUB NOTES 18TH NOVEMBER 2018

Hard luck to the Minor football team who battled bravely, but were narrowly beaten by Lucan Sarsfields in the Championship semi-final on Sunday morning. Hard luck also to the Adult Ladies Football team who were beaten in the Adult Division 6 Cup final on Wednesday. The club is very proud of both team’s achievements this season.

Congratulations to the club Officers who were elected at the AGM last week. Best wishes to the Incoming Executive Committee for 2019.

Please note that the last date for Christmas orders in the Club Shop is next Saturday 24th November. CLUB NOTES 25TH NOVEMBER 2018

Congratulations to the newly qualified coaches who completed the Foundation Coaching course over the course of two evenings recently. The first part of the Dual Award 1 GAA Coaching award course took place on, Saturday and the 2nd part will take place on Saturday 1st December 10am-4pm. 

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Anne O’Connor, Nursery & Academy Coach, Gaelic for Mothers & Others coach along with a lot of behind the scenes work, Anne is an inspirational and integral part of our Club. 

The Ladies of the Gaelic for Mothers & Others team braved the bitter weather on Wednesday evening in a match against St. Pat’s in Donabate. 

The 2007 boys team played their first 13 a side football match on Saturday in the Valley. It was a challenge match against local rivals, Fingallians GAA Club. St. Finians won by one point in a fantastic display of upcoming talent in the Club. 

Marta Andaluz Olalla, player for the Gaelic for Mothers & Others team received a lovely write up in her local newspaper in Spain, La Comarca. Marta is pictured with her two children, George and Lola who both play for the U7’s and U8’s in St. Finians. St. Finians GAA is having its Annual Christmas Party and Awards night on Saturday the 8th December 2018 in Peacocks, Swords. Doors open at 8.30pm, live music, meal and a late bar. All are welcome!!

St. Finians GAA Club is hosting its Annual Club Appreciation & Players Awards Night on Saturday 8th December in Peacocks Bar & Lounge Doors open at 8.30pm Meal provided and Music on the night by Santoria. ALL WELCOME 


GAA NATIONAL CLUB DRAW 2019 is now an annual event following its success over the past 5 years, in which over €6million has been raised by Clubs. The sole purpose of the draw is to assist Clubs to raise much needed funds to aid in the development and promotion of our games. This is an excellent opportunity for our club to raise up to €20,000. This year, all monies raised by the juvenile teams will be staying with that particular team and used for equipment for that individual team! All prizes provided by Ard Chomhairle. Tickets available from the Club house or all Team Managers / Coaches. 


Congratulations to the 12 Coaches who completed the Dual Award Level 1 GAA Coaching course, run by Club GPO Paul Lyons. 


U13 BOYS PROMOTED TO DIVISION 4 

Well done to our U13's boys who competed against Beann Eadair Howth in the final of the U13 Football League, Div. 5 Final. Unfortunately, they lost to a score of 5-7 to 1-10. However, on a happier note, they have been promoted to Division 4. We will be following this team with interest in the next season. 


Congratulations to the St. Finians U7 boys on their Dual Blitz on Saturday. Great displays of Football & Hurling from the St Finian's boys against Trinity Gaels GAA Club, Beann Eadair GAA Club, Raheny GAA and CLG Na Fianna. A great morning hosted by Trinity Gaels.

Santa "Greg" made a surprise visit to the U8's training match on Saturday morning.  Great fun had by all!!  Santa had some stiff competition from the boys!


The U7 Boys enjoyed their Christmas Party in ALSAA Bowling on Sunday. The boys had a great afternoon showing their coaches how to bowl !

CLUB NOTES 16TH DECEMBER, 2018

"The Future is Bright" - Congratulations to the Minor Football Team who collected their League Medals.  Well done lads! The team is managed by John McGuirk and Tony Murnane.


Eoin Ryan from the U14's football Thomas Ashe Team was awarded the Most Improved Player.  Congratulations Eoin!


We had a very busy Saturday morning in the Club.

A Complimentary Christmas Coffee Shop was also held on Saturday Morning. A huge crowd turned up for a cuppa and some mince pies. There was live Christmas music on the morning courtesy of Margaret Findley, Fiona Dowling and Andrew McAllister.   The Saturday Morning Coffee shop is closed now until the new year.


The Coffee Shop is run on a voluntary basis by an amazing group of women. The Club would like to thank these women for all the effort they have put in throughout the year. It is very much appreciated and it is a fantastic meeting point for club members and parents on Saturday mornings for a chat.


The winners of the Coffee Shop raffle are : Andy Lynam - Golf Hamper, Mark Murray - Howards Hardware Voucher, Michelle Smyth, Greg Donnelly and Paul Lyons - a bottle of wine each.
